I have been a friend of Heidi and her family for a very long time which is why, after my dad passes away and I needed to create a will and set up a trust account, I called Heidi. When we met, she explained everything I needed to do so she could set up my will and trust. She told me what she would do once I finished my part. She asked me very detailed questions about my wishes. She drafted my will and trust account and when I arrive at her office for the final signing, all the documentation was laid out for me very clearly. She went through all the documents with me, with explanations of them all, in case there might be anything was not as I wanted. It was very obvious to me she was very knowledgeable in her craft. Heidi is a true professional who helped me with my estate planning, her attention to detail is top notch. I would highly recommend Heidi to anyone considering their trust or estate planning, she is the best!

Our entire experience creating necessary estate documents through Heidi was only positive. She and Molly were extremely prompt with communication and her services were reasonably priced. She took the time to always thoroughly explain everything and answer my MANY questions always with a smile and the desire to make sure we were confident in how we worded things for our documents. She was happy to make changes to fit our needs and was even available to give advice regarding how to best handle my late father in law’s affairs. We really appreciate knowing that Heidi has our best interest in mind and that we have a relationship with an attorney whom we wholeheartedly trust. I’m not easy to win over in professional relationships, and I would fully recommend her to others.

probate lawyer

How can a probate lawyer help me after a loved one passes away?

In Florida, state law requires an attorney represent the estate in a Formal Probate but not all probates or estate administrations REQUIRE attorney involvement and yet a probate lawyer can offer valuable assistance in the process.

A probate lawyer may assist with:

  • Identifying and securing estate assets
  • Preparation of paperwork to collect proceeds from life insurance policies, POD accounts, and direct beneficiary assets
  • Obtaining appraisals for the decedent’s real property
  • Assisting in the negotiation and payment of bills and debts
  • Preparing and filing documents required by a probate court
  • Facilitating resolution of income tax issues by getting the needed information to a CPA
  • Managing the estate checking account
  • Transferring assets in the decedent’s name to the appropriate beneficiaries
  • Preparation of accountings
  • Making a final disbursement of assets to beneficiaries after all bills and taxes have been paid
